Akutt bronkiolitt, RS-virus

Akutt bronkiolitt kan starte som en forkjølelse. Barnet kan etterhvert bli medtatt, hoster og har gjerne pipende eller hvesende tung pust. Hyppigst er tilstanden forårsaket av RS-virus.

Akutt bronkiolitt hos spedbarn forårsakes i de fleste tilfeller av RS-virus. Hos større barn og voksne kan RS-virus forårsake forkjølelse og bronkitt. Smitte skjer via dråper fra nese og svelg hos personer med virusinfeksjonen.
