Hvordan påvises cøliaki?

Blodprøver kan ofte påvise antistoffer som slår ut ved cøliaki, men den sikreste testen er en biopsi - en vevsprøve som tas fra tynntarmsslimhinnen ved endoskopi. Mikroskopi av vevsprøven kan vise de typiske forandringene i slimhinnen.

Vanligvis blir det tatt blodprøver tidlig i utredningen. Blant de mest brukte er transglutaminase-antistoffer (IgA-TG2).
